Description

ContourresFree is a game like Tetris(tm), but it is musical instead of purely visual. A series of five notes make a melodic motif. The motif drops and you have to move it left and right to make sure the piece fits in the bottom row. When you fill up the bottom row you progress to the next round. There is always a place the piece will fit.

This free version only has levels 1, 4, and 11. Buy the full version [Contourres] to get all the levels.

The program goes through a different musical scale for each Level. Major, natural minor, harmonic and melodic minor, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Lydian flat seven, and super-Turkish scales are used. Each Level presents a different opening contour at the bottom. This means that the musical motives change significantly with each level.

Rounds: there are three rounds in each level. In Round One, you see all five notes. In Round Two, the last note is hidden. In Round Three, the last two notes are hidden. When notes are hidden, you have to figure out part of the melodic shape by ear and decide where it should go to fill up the bottom row.

To move the motive left and right, you just tap the left or right side of the screen. The controls are simple to use.

There is a bomb helper to wipe out mistakes you have made in positioning the notes. There is also a star to wipe out the bottom two rows.

Quotes from reviewers:

"Great way to deepen your understanding of music and have fun at the same time. Bravo!"

"Not only is this appealing to the ear, but I really like the sweet look of it, like crayons were used to draw the visual display. I found myself playing this for quite a while…a fun app to have on my iPhone when I'm waiting for the train."
